The foundational testimony of Islamic belief
أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأشهد أن محمداً رسول الله
"I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah."
The Shahada is the Islamic creed declaring belief in the oneness of God and the acceptance of Muhammad as God's prophet. It is the first of the Five Pillars of Islam.
The first part of the Shahada establishes the absolute oneness of Allah, rejecting all forms of polytheism and associating partners with God.
The second part acknowledges Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the final messenger of Allah, completing the chain of prophets.
